Bandwidth is the amount of data that you are allowed to download or upload at any given time. A typical method of performing a measurement is to transfer a 'large' file and measure the time taken to do so. The throughput is then calculated by dividing the file size by the time to get the throughput in megabits, kilobits, or bits per second.

You may test your bandwidth speed easily and simply by Bandwidth Monitor. You need to install the software on your computer (100% clean). And then, you will see real-time download and upload speeds in graphic and text when you're surfing website.
